Livestock Contracts Set for Firm Opening

Live and feeder futures should open moderately higher, supported by
follow-through buying and ideas of cash stability. Hog contracts also seem
staged to begin on a firm basis thanks to profit taking and suggestions that
deferred discounts are excessive.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

Those monitoring the cash cattle market will hardly be on high alert this
morning with few expecting significant feedlot business to surface before
Thursday or Friday. So look for a sleepy session with both bids and asking
prices poorly defined. Some steers and heifers appear to be prices around
$157-158 in the South and $248-250 in the North. Live and feeder futures should
open moderately higher, supported by residual buying interest and recent cash
premiums.
